Conservatively, 150,000,000 children are orphaned around the world today. Mandala has placed children with families who will love them since 1994. Mandala actively supports the rights of children throughout the world by making contributions to humanitarian efforts, many of which are described below.
Currently, each country program fee includes a monetary donation to the adopted child's orphanage. But like many other 501(c)3 non-profit agencies, Mandala’s ability to further its mission of uniting children in need with permanent families is also dependent on your donations. All contributions are tax deductible. Please ask your employer if they have a matching fund program, which could effectively double your contribution. Mandala will accept contributions by cash or check or through the donation link on this page.
International adoption must remain an option for orphaned children and Mandala intends to remain a part of that option. We will continue to fight for every child’s right to permanence and we will continue to respect our privilege to place some of those children with loving families. Please help us continue our efforts to uphold the rights of children and adoptive families worldwide.
We need your help today.

Mandala has always supported humanitarian projects and orphanages in all the countries in which we have worked. We have gone about this quietly for many years as part of our mission and our belief in what "non-profit" means. In the past, our focus was on orphanage conditions and children's medical and nutritional needs. Our focus has now expanded to include women's issues and education and the overall improvement of communities. We provide assistance to several countries in which we do not have programs. While there is not room to list all of those and past projects, here is a snapshot of where our agency currently donates funds and items:
In Guatemala, we support several orphanages where the children are not adoptable. We provide direct support for the care of children that were not referred to an adopting family prior to the closure to new adoptions. These children are in legal limbo. Through Mandala Women’s Services we provide job training, legal aid, grants toward large medical bills, donations of goods for a women’s shelter and scholarships for preschool and child care. We support a program called Project Josue, which assists families dealing with hydrocephalus through the purchase of shunts and grants toward medical bills, education for the family and their community, and physical therapy for the children. We also support several organizations that provide clean water, stoves, and electricity to small rural communities.
We have provided donations of toys, food and formula. We have begun small construction projects in some of the Mexico orphanages and hope to continue. Many of the teenagers in the orphanages have their own small businesses and projects and we can assist them through micro-loans. Directors have asked us to begin a pen-pal program so that the teens can practice writing in English.
In Vietnam, we support five orphanages with which we work for adoptions as well as other orphanages with a variety of humanitarian aid projects. We have been privileged to dig a well, build a laundry room, purify a water system, build a playground, support extra caregiver staff, buy medical supplies and pay for a medical training program in several Vietnam communities. We are part of a bicycle program, we purchase needed wheelchairs, and we help provide hot lunches in schools, community wells, livestock and rice, both to plant and for immediate use. We also support other non-profits providing social services in Vietnam.
In Cambodia, we assisted the Khmer Children's Foundation with the renovation of Pursat Orphanage to improve the lives of the residents. We continue to assist with the children's basic needs.
In China we participate in a program for facial reconstruction surgeries. We also participate in an organization that supports children living in orphanages who are not adoptable.
In Ukraine, we support two orphanages. As needs change, the directors each orphanage let us know what special projects are needed each year so we may support emerging needs.
We support a halfway house in Azerbaijan for girls that are aging out of orphanage care. The girls live in a group home where they continue their education and receive job and life skills training.
In Bulgaria we give to a special needs orphanage and to an organization that provides socks and shoes for the many thousands of orphaned children.
Mandala provides micro-loans to women entrepreneurs. We provide support to numerous orphanages and projects designed to maintain or improve them. We assist in the rebuilding of housing damaged by natural disasters. We make donations of clothing, diapers and toys to local shelters. And we contribute to grant-funding to assist in finding families for children with special needs.
Our agency is always looking for other non-profit organizations to support in their endeavors. If you know of a worthy charity whose goal is to improve the lives of children and/or women, please let us know about them!
